KEN WOMACK
ARTIST BIO
Son of a bull rider and a ballerina. Veteran of the advertising industry. Creator of big, shiny, loud things.
Ken Womack’s body of work, informed by his 35-years career in advertising, is an outsized exploration of pop culture, big-hearted nostalgia, and Texas mythos.
Currently his work is on display at Scout Design Studio in Dallas, where he was the first Artist in Residence in 2024, and at Convey Gallery in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Ken’s first solo museum show, OBSESSED debuts summer of 2026 at The Museum Of The Southwest in Midland, Texas.
There will be toast.
ARTIST STATEMENT
Pop-culture fixations fascinate me—no surprise after decades spent shaping them in advertising. Why does something as ordinary as bacon become an icon of the zeitgeist? Clearly, we’re hungry for something more than breakfast.
My art magnifies the objects of our collective compulsions—mixtapes, cigars, Pop-Tarts, boomboxes, even nunchucks and beer cans—into oversized monuments. At an impossible-to-ignore scale, these pieces invite viewers to examine the objects we hitch our attention—and identities—to. Sculpted from humble plywood and cardboard and stitched together with exposed screws, each work is finished with photo-real brushwork that blurs the line between object and illusion. They read loud, neon, and brash at first glance; give them a double-take and they turn painterly and wry.
After 35 years steering ad campaigns, I know how desire gets packaged. Here I peel back the wrapping, fusing pop-art sparkle with formal sleight-of-hand and leaving you to decide what’s really on the table.
